'The Voice' Singer Christina Grimmie Fatally Shot After Florida Concert

Singer Christina Grimmie is dead after being shot following an Orlando concert on Friday night. 

Early Saturday morning, ABC News received a statement from Grimmie's rep confirming her death.

"It is with a heavy heart that we can confirm that Christina has passed and went home to be with the Lord. She was shot at her show in Orlando and, unfortunately, didn't survive the gun shot wounds. We ask at this time that you respect the privacy of her family and friends in their time of mourning. If you'd like to give back to Christina's family in her memory, please consider donating to the families GoFundMe page in their time of need."

The Orlando police have also confirmed that Grimmie died from her injuries.

According to NBC News, the former contestant on The Voice was signing autographs along with members of the band Before You Exit after a show at Orlando's Plaza Live Theater. At around 10:45 PM, a male suspect shot Grimmie before fatally shooting himself after being tackled by the singer's brother, said a police spokesperson.

After the incident, but before her death was announced, social media filled with an outpouring of support, with the hashtag #PrayForChristina trending almost immediately.

The Voice​, where Grimmie placed third during her time on the show's sixth season, issued a statement as well.

We are heartbroken. @TheRealGrimmie is a loved member of our family. Our thoughts are with her and her family. #PrayForChristina

And singer Adam Levine, longtime coach on The Voice, took to Instagram to share his thoughts.

Once it became apparent that the singer had died, many again took to social media to express their remorse and sadness at the senseless tragedy.

Christina’s brother, Marcus Grimmie, posted a touching letter on Facebook. “By now I'm sure many you have heard that Christina has passed away due to gunfire after a show. I really don't have much to say about anything and am just blown away with the prayers and support. I PROMISE I will respond to everyone when I can,” he wrote.

Christina’s manager, Brian Teefey, launched a GoFundMe page to assist the singer’s family during this time.

UPDATED, 5:14 p.m., ET: Orlando Police has shared the name of the suspected gunman who murdered Grimmie. His name is Kevin James Loibl and he is 27 years old. (Not 21 years old as police mistakenly revealed.) Police officials tell ABC News Loibl had "two handguns, loaded magazines and a hunting knife." He traveled from an area that wasn't part of Orlando or central Florida to commit this crime and he also had no connection to Grimmie. You can see a photo of him below.
