Beyoncé shared a moving tribute on her website to Lyric Chanel, a 13-year-old girl who died of brain cancer and anaplastic ependymoma on Friday after a two-year battle.

Beyoncé, who sent Lyric flowers in September after she caught wind of a video of Lyric singing one of her hit songs, sang “Brown Skin Girl,” “Halo” and “Love on Top” in tribute to the young girl. In the chorus for “Love on Top,” Bey sings Lyric’s name instead of the “baby” heard in the original version of the song.

The young girl gained a massive following on social media as her family documented her battle with cancer, attracting the attention of other music stars like Cardi B and Trae The Truth. Lyric, like Bey, was born in Houston and was a massive fan of the singer.

An Instagram account called Go Gold For Childhood Cancer shared the tragic news on Friday.

“Lyric gained her angel wings this morning at the age of 13 years old,” the page wrote. “Lyric bravely battled Anaplastic Ependymoma and endured more than a child ever should. She loved singing, listening to music, and dancing. I know she most definitely dancing with all the angels right now. Watch over your family baby girl! You are forever missed!”

Back in October, Lyric received an Ivy Park box from the superstar. “Thank you so much @beyonce this couldn’t have come at a better time,” the post read. “just got back from getting Chemo and look at the surprise that was waiting. I love you so much.”

Funeral arrangements have not yet been set, ABC 13 reports.
