Montreal-via-Saint-Vincent rapper Skiifall has returned with “I Can’t Feel My Mind (Freestyle),” a brisk sub-two-minute barrage of harmonic bars.

“Shorty respect when man like me come through my boy that’s honour,” Skiifall raps at the beginning of the track, which was produced by Xav Leon. The video was directed by Aimé Irabahaye.

Though Skiifall raps for just over a minute, he touches on subjects like turning his music into a record deal and trading away higher education for a career he saw himself thriving in, all while finding time to crack a Barack Obama joke.

The shimmery yet nocturnal beat provides a complementary backdrop to the video that sees Skiifall rapping his verse in the shadows and dimly lit basements.

“I Can’t Feel My Mind (Freestyle)” marks Skiifall’s return after only putting out a single song in 2022, “Bloodclart Business,” that came with its own Colors Show episode.

Though Skiifall has been mostly quiet this year, he also appeared on Lil Silva’s song “What If?”

In 2021, Skiifall teased a collaboration with Sampha on Instagram.

In an interview with Complex Canada earlier this year, Skiifall said about new music: “I’m definitely putting out more music this year. I’m always working on music, finding the best way to put out more, and to always make a big impact. I’ll definitely put out more videos as well. I try my best to do everything tastefully. I don’t want to put anything out that’s not good enough for myself to listen to.”
