Carey has long been known for her Christmas-themed anthems having released her first festive album Merry Christmas back in 1994. She followed it up with a sequel in 2010 and led an Apple TV+ special in 2020 titled Mariah Carey's Magical Christmas Special.

Earlier this year Carey's holiday music was recognized at a higher level as her song "All I Want for Christmas Is You" was inducted into the Library of Congress National Recording Registry.
