Lou Phelps released his latest Kaytranada-produced single “Out My Face,” a shimmering laid-back affair that further solidifies the Montreal-based brothers’ chemistry.

While Phelps is no stranger to rapping over Kaytranada beats, this one is more reflective of Phelps’ self-made success.

“Spent a bag at LIV/That’s just how I live/Get it by myself, even Papa wasn’t here,” he raps on the closing bars of the final verse.

In the song’s accompanying video, Phelps is rapping in Europe, bouncing back and forth from several locations and features a brief interlude where a man claims that Phelps is “going to get [him] in the most trouble in the world.” When Phelps goes to respond, the video cuts back to him rapping the song’s chorus which begins with “Out My Face.”

“Out My Face” marks Phelps’ first release since his Touché EP back in August which saw him debut under Rostrum Records and in conjunction with Stand Up Guy Records, his and Kaytranada’s new imprint. In 2018, Phelps was nominated for a Juno Award for “Rap Recording of the Year.”

The Celestins are always tight. Last month they were modelling YZY SHDZ together.

Phelps also recently featured on Montreal-via-Congo-and South Africa singer Mopao Mumu’s newest EP Spring to Summer on the track “Suga Candy.”
