If you haven't seen video of Tyler, the Creator and Kanye Westperforming "Late" together at Odd Future's Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival, you really should because it is awesome. This is a verifiable fact that can be determined just from watching it, but, for those still in doubt, here's a second opinion: Tyler says that the day was the "Greatest Day Of My Life."
In a long, inspiring Tumblr post today, Tyler shared his thoughts on the carnival, on how far Odd Future has come and how the Los Angeles collective has brought people of all types together ("Seeing All Different Races From Skinny To Fat To Everything All In One Place With Something In Common Was Mind Blowing"). Among the many highlights was his excitement over the lack of sponsors ("We Didnt Have Any Crazy Sponsors And I Didnt Have To Suck Up to Anyone Or Any Of That Shit"), which is definitely a rarity in today's brand-integrated music world.
He also got really excited about getting unlimited rides on the Zipper, talked about how he used to look up to Pharrell's style and now has people looking up to his style, and shared his opinions on performing with Kanye:
He then turned inspirational, waxing on Odd Future's approach, the importance of believing in yourself and the unimportance of race/sexuality on who you are:
It's a great, worthwhile read for Odd Future fans or people still wondering what Odd Future's all about (not to mention why someone like Kanye might be so drawn to Tyler). Read the whole thing here or down below, and check out Kanye and Tyler's performance:
