You know what's deep about this track? It contains a sample that I remember hearing on old Metalheadz records, aka the last time street music truly changed my life. I'm consuming jungle at around the same pace I'm taking in footwork in 2013, and the parallel is trippy, considering that much of the footwork/juke shares tempos and vibes with the jungle sound. In any case, if you heard DJ Rashad and DJ Spinn's Lexdray mix, you definitely heard this cut, taken from Rashad's Double Cup LP on Hyperdub. Like most hypnotic footwork, DJs Rashad and Phil build a repetitive masterpiece, throwing soulful vocals right up against somber keys and rumbling bass. It's a thing of beauty, and something I can't stop rewinding.
