5 Rising Acts to See at This Year's Festival D'ete

Another year of Festival d'ete is about to kick off this weekend in beautiful Quebec City and as usual the programming is stacked. While seasoned vets like The Weeknd, Future, Lorde, Phoenix, Beck, Neil Young, Foo Fighters, Tory Lanez, Camila Cabelo and Shawn Mendes will of course bring the heat when they perform over the course of the ten days, here are our picks for rising acts to see at this year's festival.

Killy may have made a splash off a few viral tracks on YouTube, but he's certainly proved that he's more than just a one hit wonder over the past year. His debut album Surrender Your Soul was met with enthusiastic response from fans and critics alike and he's toured Canada, the US and Europe all in the last few months. Killy is playing the main stage at this year's FEQ ahead of heavyweights Lil Yachty and Future but with almost 40 tour dates under his belt we're willing to bet he'll be pretty comfortable up there.

Montreal native Charlotte Cardin has come a long way from being a Top 4 contestant on TVA's La Voix. She's managed to parlay her television star status into a respectable music career that includes two JUNO nominations and a number of SOCAN award nods as well. Expect to hear cuts off Charlotte's acclaimed Big Boy EP and her track "California" that has a new killer music video you should definitely peep.

America's most unconventional boy band has had a bit of a rough few months which included the ousting of founding member Ameer Vann amidst allegations of sexual misconduct. In the wake of the scandal, Brockhampton canceled a number of their tour dates including an appearance at the Governors' Ball, but they're slowly getting back into the swing of things and recently appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and even performed a new song entitled "Tonya." Hopefully they'll share even more cuts from their upcoming album, The Best Years of Our Lives, when they perform on FEQ's biggest stage on opening night.

Brockhampton performs on 7/5 at 7pm on the Bell Stage

Langston Francis is easily one of the most exciting young talents out of Toronto right now, and we don't say "young" lightly—he's still in high school! The kid from Kensington Market is having a great year so far, racking up a string of solid single releases and a number of well-received performances. He's part of a stacked Friday night program that includes Geoffrey and Bonobo, giving festival-goers an alternative to the rock-country heavy mainstage.

Producers used to be the unsung heroes of the music industry but in recent years beatmakers like Metro Boomin, Murda Beatz and Boi-1da have become rockstars in their own right, going on tours and selling out shows as only artists used to be able to. Atlanta native London on da Track is another producer in the echelon of those named above, hugely influential in the new trap sound, the mastermind behind some of the biggest tracks of the last few years and especially noted for his work with Young Thug and Kodak Black. For a good old fashioned turn up, catch London on da Track's set before Machine Gun Kelly.
