The latest act aboard PMR's pop-soul train comes in the form of newcomer Alyss, a singer/songwriter coming straight out of Brighton. Today, the classically-trained artist shares "The Talking Palm Tree", her debut single, and it's the strongest first entry we've heard in a minute; Alyss' tone is laden with soul in a Joss Stone type of way—sweet to its core, but oh so strong—over a glitchy beat that she produced herself. Having already worked with the likes of Snakehips and SG Lewis, she describes her solo effort as being "similar to The Garden of Eden and how this story was twisted to suppress the feminine—the beginning of patriarchal reign. If freedom was a place, what would the real Garden of Eden look like?" Taken from her upcoming EP, Answers (out April 29), stream the laid-back number exclusively below.
