Watch Wiz Khalifa's Super Awkward SportsCenter Performance

Wiz Khalifa performs for an awkward few minutes on ESPN's "Center Stage."

ESPN just kicked off a new live performance segment called "Center Stage" with an appearance from Wiz Khalifa. The network apparently has some long-term ambitions to "expand the SportsCenter brand further into the world of music" following appearances on the show from Lil Wayne and Willie Nelson last year.

"Sports and music have always had a cool connection, and we hope ‘Center Stage’ will further that relationship in a way that will resonate with our fans,” said ESPN VP Rob King in a press release. That type of cold business-speak is apparently what spawned an awfully awkward few minutes of programming earlier tonight as Wiz and company performed some turn-up anthems in an empty studio. From the stiff intro to the moments of pure silence before and after the music, the whole thing felt weird. Things even got creepy GIF worthy at the very end right before a send-off to the NBA Draft.

Check out some highlights below.
