North-West London rapper Trenchtown, aka TJ Francis, introduces himself to the world today with the “Winners” freestyle.

It’s a snip at 90 seconds, but he does a lot with a little. A statement of intent if ever there was one, T cuts through the bluster of others and sets out his credentials and the big plans he’s putting in place.

Nizar Shad directs the video, capturing T and his co-stars in Noirish black-and-white as we start at a sombre graveside scene before working backward through the politics and tragedies of street life that brought us there—all of which he’s determined to never see again in his life.

If this is anything to go by, we’d say that’s a sure thing.

Speaking with Complex over email, Trenchtown said: “I guess I’m just trying to slowly change the narrative; there’s nothing to glorify. I know quite a few people were expecting more after three years away from music, but this is just a warm up. Trust me.”
