This week (July 12), Timbah will make his return to Bad Taste Records with another hyperactive, grime-adjacent release following 2017's Slimey Makoto EP. Helix Spirals boasts three original tracks — "Helix Spirals", "Turd Nuggets" and "Smokesum" — as well as a remix of the latter from White Peach Records producer Modelle, which you can listen to exclusively above.
The original version was a twinkling yet urgent club track peppered with strings and eastern melodies, and driven along by an indefinable tension lurking just around the corner. Modelle's reworking, however, cranked things up a notch or two, transforming it into a hurtling, chaotic thunderstorm of grimey stabs, disembodied screams and overwhelming rhythms.
