For much of the last two decades, revered D&B duo Calyx and TeeBee have been loudly kicking out some of the finest, most bone-crunching jungle we've heard in a while, boasting nearly four decades of experience between them. More recently, the pair have embarked on a project they're calling Plates, a series of singles that will be collected on special 10" vinyl on Ram Records, harking back to the days of producers pressing tunes to wax and sending them out to DJs before they've even been release.
The ethos behind the project was to counter the culture of immediacy where tracks are dropped into the abyss of the internet without being built up in clubs and festivals beforehand. "Big Sound" is the fifth and latest installment and taps into the pair's deep and profound love for classic, snarling jungle. Built around big and bold horns, a gritty mid-range and an imdomitable grimey energy, "Big Sound" is a shining example of the pair's deep and profound love of jungle.
