A couple of weeks ago, Olamide and Asake joined forces for “Amapiano”, a sweltering take on the South African sound with threads of hip-hop and Afrobeats sewn in for extra bounce. The track proved an enormous success, racking up millions of streams on every platform, and now they look set to repeat that with their latest team-up, “New Religion”.

Produced by Magicsticks (who produced all three of their collabs to date, including last year’s “Omo Ope”) and Bbanks, this one leans closer to Afrobeats than its predecessor, but there’s still a hint of Amapiano mixed in there next to the Afropop elements. “New Religion” is packed with memorable moments and guaranteed to be a big crowd-pleaser when the Nigerian stars take it out on the road.

Director Jyde Ajala catches the pair in full celebration mode, taking over a palatial country estate with every big spender’s favourite toys. And they’ve got plenty to celebrate, too: Olamide’s new album, Unruly, arrives in July, while Asake will be dropping his second album, Work Of Art, later this month.

While we wait with baited breath for both projects, hit play on the new video up top and be sure to add “New Religion” to your playlists.
