Jevon Reminds Us Of His Star-Like Quality On Bouncy New Single “X”

At least on the release schedule, Jevon has been relatively quiet this year—though we don’t doubt his studio’s been as busy as ever.

Now, the rapper is back “X”, a collaboration with the mysterious entity dubbed simply WIZRD. The track itself continues Jevon’s combo of rap and Afro-Brazilian rhythms we heard on last year’s Fell In Love In Brasil, a mix of light and bouncy drum patterns with tough, razor-sharp rhyming.

Giving the track an extravagant air, the fish-eye visuals from director Noah Sapon follow Jevon, his team and a couple of aristocrats plucked from the eighteenth century on a mission to secure high tea.

Although there isn’t much information out there concerning WIZRD, “X” is Jevon’s third track of the year following “Evil Eye” and “Insulted”, both of which also listed WIZRD as a credited artist. It’s not the only mystery surrounding the track; when Jevon shared the video on Twitter, he also wrote, “Welcome to Mana, a new space for us.” Curiously, both Mana and WIZRD have Instagram accounts set up but have yet to post.

While we keep sleuthing, hit play on the new video at the top.
