South East London grime MC Kruz Leone has been having a bit of a run lately. Just this week, he took part in a legendary set with Dizzee Rascal, Jammer, P Money and Jme for Oblig’s Rinse FM show (more than holding his own, by the way), but just as noteworthy is his latest release, “O.T Trips”.
Produced by Efflex and Adam R, the original was a highlight on Kruz’s Big Slide Tackle project last year and it’s proved such a fan favourite he’s returned with two fresh takes on the track.
For the first remix, dubbed “The Re-Whip”, Kruz calls on a six-strong squad from several different generations of grime for the assist, including FR4NKIE (fka XP BURSTGANG), Milli Major, Rawza, So Large, Duppy and Kozzie.

The second, meanwhile, is a remix from Wolverhampton producer NEONE The Wonderer who swaps the grimey thud for a smokey, slow-and-low hip-hop production.
With two big wins under his belt this month alone, here’s hoping Kruz can keep the momentum going for the rest of 2023 (and beyond). Grime definitely needs his energy right now.
