Two decades since the launch of FWD>>, the seminal club night has officially launched as a new record label. Kicking things off, they’ve drafted in Slimzee, Boylan and Riko Dan for the label’s first release, “Mile End”, a track that Slimzee and co. have been teasing for at least a year now.

As the title suggests, it’s East London through and through, treading the line between grime and dubstep with Riko’s war cry flow driving the track forward.

This new track and, by extension, the label aren’t just about the sound of London. As has always been the case since the very first FWD>> night all those years ago, it embodies the spirit of pirate radio, the rough-around-the-edges vitality and dogged determination that kept so much overlooked talent on air and in clubs despite the best efforts of authorities.

While we wait to see what’s next from the nascent label, check out “Mile End” and be sure to add the track to your playlists.
