Entirely self-produced, save for the JoSoSick beat on the first track, it’s a self-contained testament to what this new crop of creators can do.

Something’s brewing in the grime scene. Between the new labels being founded, the surge in radio and live sets, and the bounty of new projects we seem to be getting at the minute, it’s all looking very, very healthy.

The latest out the gates is Delusions Of Grandeur, a new eight-track project from producer and MC Duppy. The South East Londoner has had quite a buzz around him for the past couple of years and with good reason. He’s got the credentials and the on-mic ability, but he’s also balanced the new gen with a well-informed respect for what came before.

Entirely self-produced, save for the JoSoSick beat on the first track, Delusions Of Grandeur is a self-contained testament to what this new crop of grime creators can do. Just like The Waiting Room, which his old friend and regular collaborator Squintz dropped the week before last, it’s a tightly-wound ball of energy; tracks like “Bare Trainers” and “Combo” (the latter of which also got a fresh new visual from director Relly Luton), for example, feel like they’re bursting out of a cage and his barked delivery feels like a lightning bolt.

Take a trip round the streets of Camberwell with the “Combo” video at the mid-point, and then get into Delusions Of Grandeur in full below.
