With festival season upon us and the ever-present threat of a heatwave, the king of the summer banger himself Donae’O arrives not a moment too soon with his latest tune “I Don’t Need”.
Built around a bumpy Amapiano rhythm and a looping “Rhythm ‘N’ Gash” sample with a delayed payoff, Donae’O is cool, calm and collected on this one. Add to that a touch of UK funky and the lilting guest vocals of Lili Caseley and you’ve got yourself a surefire hit.
Taking to Twitter to announce the track, Donae’O writes: “I’d like to introduce this new artist I’m working with, Lili Caseley. My plan this year is to showcase new artists that I love to the world. Tomorrow or midnight is the release of ‘I Don’t Need’ ft Lili Caseley. [Please] follow her.”
The new track landed just this weekend, but we’d be amazed if there wasn’t a video already in the works. Only to be played when the temperature passes the 30-degree mark, you can test it out in advance now.
