One of this year’s rising stars is undoubtedly North-West London’s cityboymoe. Mixing gentle, cloud-grazing R&B vocals with a broad palette of sounds, working with everyone from Stay Flee Get Lizzy to Joy Orbison, he’s versatile above all else. Adding another string to his bow, he returns to show off another side to his songwriting chops with his new single “NW10”.

It’s a bit of a gear shift from the artist’s last solo outing, “Wasting”, which was served up in a slick package of polished, almost club-ready electronics. “NW10”, however, has a much more lo-fi feel to it; his vocals feel stifled and muted, while his melodies have an affecting, bittersweet quality to them.

The shift in tone’s a fitting one, especially given the visuals. Directed by Arran Ashan, the video follows Moe through the streets and tower-blocks of Harlesden, shining an unfiltered light on some of the darker sides of life. But in between that, he visits some of the local shops and checks in with his neighbours. For better or worse, this is home, but he’s under no illusion about what it’s really like there.
