And although he doesn’t get tonnes of screen time, we wouldn’t be surprised if BackRoad Gee lands a few major acting roles before the year’s out.

2022 looks like it’s going to be a big year for Chase & Status fans.

Last week, the production duo dropped off their new track, “When It Rains”—a collaboration with BackRoad Gee—and now they’re back with the gritty and, at times, bleak new visuals. Directed by Hector Dockrill, the visuals follow our hapless protagonist, played by Jack McMullen, as he tries hopelessly to dig himself out of a debt owed to BackRoad Gee and his boys.

Taking BRG’s “when it rains it pours” refrain to its extreme, his problems quickly mount up and his prospects look increasingly bleak. Is that a glimmer of hope on the horizon? Well, no spoilers, but probably not.

The pair recently took to Instagram to give fans the backstory of how the track came about. As Saul explains in the video, they had name-checked BRG in an interview and almost as soon as that had that gone out into the world, the motormouth MC hit them up via DM. A week later and they were in the studio recording. They also played an early, almost unrecognisable rap version of the track, which of course has since evolved dramatically into the D&B slammer you hear today.

A true-blue banger for the clubs, it’s C&S at their heaviest. And although he doesn’t get tonnes of screen time, we wouldn’t be surprised if BackRoad Gee lands a few major acting roles before the year’s out. You read it here first.
