Back in September last year, West London rhymer ASB introduced to a new R&Drill sound he’s been getting into with “Oooh”. Now, as is befitting of the season, he’s back with another tough-but-smooth joint for Valentine’s Day: “D.I.T.R (Diamond In The Rough)”.
On his latest single, ASB goes a little deeper into that R&Drill sound, balancing the tough exterior of producer IDntLveYu’s shuddering bass and skippy hi-hat triplets against silky smooth lyrics and even a bit of singing on the hook. For the visuals, ASB co-directs alongside MCTV, ramping up the romantic vibes even further by putting the rapper and his love interest under deep red and pink lights as he lets her know exactly why she’s his diamond in the rough.
