Madonna Says She No Longer Wants to Be Naked Because 'Everyone' Is

The pop legend shared that she wants to "do what people are not doing" instead of being naked.

Madonna has a disinterest in being naked for public consumption.

In her new Interview Magazine cover story, the pop icon, who turns 68 in August, explained that you’ll no longer catch her in the nude. In 1992, Madonna released an out-of-print coffee table book, Sex, which featured photos that showed her without wearing any clothes. The book was a companion project to Madonna’s fifth album, Erotica, and also featured images of models and entertainers like Big Daddy Kane, Naomi Campbell and Vanilla Ice in nude or suggestive positions.

Midway through the interview, the Confessions II singer spoke about being publicly condemned before expressing that there was “a reason” that she used to act in a provocative manner.

"Now I don't want to be naked because everyone's naked," she told Interview. "I want to do what people are not doing, which is thinking and wearing clothes.”

Elsewhere in the story, Madonna described her critics as "narrow-minded people who are ignorant, who judge first before investigating,” and acknowledged that the pile-ons "used to bother" her.

On July 3, Madonna releases her fifteenth album, Confessions II, the sequel to her 2005 album, Confessions on a Dance Floor. For the rollout, the vocalist took to LGBTQ social networking platform Grindr for a Pride Month takeover, complete with an exclusive vinyl release and other app-only content.
