Earlier tonight, Jay-Z announced that his next album, Magna Carta Holy Grail, is dropping on July 4. The announcement came in the form of a Samsung ad during halftime of Game 5 of the NBA Finals (watch it right here). In the ad, Jay is seen working in the studio with Rick Rubin, Pharrell, Timbaland, and Swizz Beatz discussing the new album.
Of course, with everyone watching on TV and the clip hitting the Internet just minutes later, everyone and their mother had something slick to say about the three minute commercial. Several phrases related to the ad including Jay-Z, Samsung, Hov, and Rick Rubin all became trending topics on Twitter.
