Toronto rapper Killy recently got out of his deal with Epic Records, and he’s starting the next chapter of his career as an independent artist with new single and video “CEO” via his own Secret Sound Club label.

The single was produced by fellow Torontonian Jaegen, best known for producing French Montana and Swae Lee’s “Unforgettable.” The video was directed by frequent collaborator Gravelsite.

After dropping Killstreak 2, both the regular and deluxe versions, in 2021, Killy went relatively quiet. He explained in a press release: “This release means a lot to me because it represents my creative freedom… I recently got out of my deal with Epic Records, which opens up a new chapter that I’m excited for. Although my time with the label had many positives, being independent allows me to be more hands-on with my ability to release music when and how I want to. Regaining my freedom and getting back to my independent roots are things I’m very grateful for.”

Killy will perform at the inaugural Rolling Loud Toronto on Sunday, Sept. 11.
