Polaris Music Prize winner Backxwash has joined forces with another highly acclaimed rapper, Billy Woods, on “Bite Back,” the latest single from Atlanta group Algiers.
The Canadian artist called the epic single “the soundtrack to revolutionary struggle.” Backxwash appears in the official Murat Gökmen video in visual, but not corporeal form. On Twitter, the “Doom Rap Queen” also called the track “a dream collaboration.”
In a statement, Algiers producer Ryan Mahan said: “Shit’s been so real the past few years, we really needed to grow our community of collaborators and make solid the bonds we’ve always felt, particularly with rap heads. And to have the two best rappers around, billy woods AND Backxwash, on the same Algiers-produced track? Pinch me, for real.”
Backxwash dropped I Lie Here Buried Buried With My Rings and Dresses a year ago and announced a new project, His Happiness Shall Come First Even Though We Are Suffering, coming on Halloween.
Billy Woods has two upcoming Canadian dates in support of Aethiopes: Oct. 9 in Montreal and Oct. 10 in Toronto.
