Diddy’s return to music is now official.

The multi-hyphenate music industry figure and businessman has announced he’s launched a new R&B label—appropriately titled Love Records—and has also partnered with Motown Records for the first time in his career for a one-time album deal. His next album will be released this summer under the Love/Motown banner.

Ethiopia Habtemariam, CEO and chairwoman of Motown Records, told Complex in a statement, “This is a major moment for Motown, as Diddy is one of this century’s most important voices in music and culture. To be a part of his next evolution and album is nothing short of monumental.”

Diddy—who is managed by SAL&CO and represented by Wassim “Sal” Slaiby—plans to use Love Records to spotlight artists in the R&B world through single releases and collaborative projects.

“Music has always been my first love, Love Records is the next chapter is about getting back to the love and making the best music of my life,” Diddy—who in 2021 changed his middle name to Love—explained. “For the label I’m focused on creating timeless R&B music with the next generation of artists and producers. Motown is the perfect partner for my album and I’m excited to add to its legacy.”

Back in April, Diddy teased his impending return to music by previewing a new song in a Beats Fit Pro ad starring Kayvon Thibodeaux, who was the fifth overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft joining the New York Giants.

Diddy’s return will build upon a successful career that spans 30 years and includes his Bad Boy Entertainment label, which has produced some of the most popular acts (The Notorious B.I.G., 112, Mase) and music during that timeframe.
