Taylor Swift Says Scott Borchetta Had ‘300 Million Reasons' to Partner With Scooter Braun

Taylor Swift accused the president of her former label, Big Machine’s Scott Borchetta, of conveniently forgetting her feelings about Scooter Braun, who—when purchasing the record company—also acquired her catalog.

“I knew he would sell my music; I knew he would do that,” Swift told CBS Sunday Morning. “I couldn’t believe who he sold it to, because we’ve had endless conversations about Scooter Braun. And he has 300 million reasons to conveniently forget those conversations,” she said, referring to the reported $300 million-plus Braun’s company put up to purchase Big Machine.

Swift again rejected any allegations that she knew about the deal beforehand and that she pretended to be surprised when it was announced. “I found out when it was online, like, when it hit the news,” she said. Swift added that “nobody knew” in her inner circle. On the day the deal was revealed, Swift said that the sale to Braun was her “worst-case scenario.” The singer is now planning on re-recording her Big Machine back catalog.

During the CBS interview, Swift also discussed her latest album, Lover, and touched on some of the songs, including her opening track, “I Forgot That You Existed.” Its been up for debate on whether the song addresses her relationship with ex Calvin Harris, or her ongoing beef with Kanye West.

Swift said, “I imagine that I might have that habit, yeah,” when it comes to addressing her “haters” on every album. She continued, “Well, when they stop coming for me, I will stop singing to them. You know, people go on and on about, like, you have to forgive and forget to move past something. No, you don’t. You don’t have to forgive and you don’t have to forget to move on. You can move on without any of those things happening. You just become indifferent, and then you move on.”

Swift also recently revealed her diary entry from the night West interrupted her on the VMAs stage. “Ahh… the things that can change in a week,” she wrote. “If you had told me that one of the biggest stars in music was going to jump on stage and announce that he thought I shouldn’t have won on live television, I would’ve said, ‘That stuff doesn’t really happen in real life.'” she wrote.

Another continuing problem Swift has been dealing with is the number of stalkers being arrested in the vicinity of her home. When asked how she splits her time between her residences in Nashville, New York, Rhode Island, and London, she said: “I try not to ever really say where I am, since all my addresses are on the internet,” adding that some of her stalkers are “dudes that think we have an imaginary marriage.”

The pop star previously revealed in an essay for Elle that she carries army-grade bandage dressing “for gunshot or stab wounds.” She told CBS, “I've had a lot of stalkers show up to the house armed. So we have to think that way.”
