Lil Nas X has returned to the fold.
On Sunday night, the “Old Town Road” artist took to X, sharing a couple of new selfies where he’s wearing grills.
“Out of rehab i guess,” he wrote, “Hi guysss!”
Earlier this month, the rapper hopped on Instagram to reveal that he’s been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, something he said he felt like he had “known” about for a few years but didn’t “want to admit.”
“I didn’t want to have to take medication and have people think different of me,” he explained.
He continued, “I’m already Black and gay, like damn, God. Come on, Black, gay, and bipolar? I’m living life on extreme hard mode. On a serious note, I’m doing much better, I’m feeling better. I’m creating freely, and there’s less fear in my heart, and I’m smelling the roses. I’ve been doing music for seven years now. Speaking of music, I want to let you guys know there’s new music on the way. I’m not getting completely to it just yet, but I’m excited to do that.”
Nas X said he underwent treatment “for a few months” in a rehab facility. “Since then, I’ve been back at home, whether it’s in Atlanta with my family, or in Los Angeles with myself and friends or whatnot, and trying to ground myself down to earth and get out of my head,” he said. “I have a therapist now and a psychiatrist, which has been really helpful.”
His news follows a stint in a mental health diversion program in connection with felony battery charges. Last August, Nas X was booked after walking on Ventura Blvd. while naked at 4 a.m. Reports emerged that the 26-year-old charged at officers upon their arrival.
X was charged with three felony counts of battery with injury on a police officer, plus one felony count of resisting an executive officer. He pleaded not guilty and was held on $75,000 bail.
He attended the mental health program in lieu of serving jail time.
