UPDATED 12/9, 9:45 a.m. ET: Flavor Flav has moved past his domestic violence incident that happened in October in Nevada.

A judge dropped his misdemeanor domestic battery charge when Flav accepted a smaller charge, TMZ reports. He ended up pleading no contest to one count of coercion and accepted a $640 fine. H also will not be incarcerated.

“[Flavor Flav] acknowledged the nonviolent act of grabbing a phone during the incident in question, a misdemeanor, and the case was closed by the court,” attorneys David Chesnoff and Richard Schonfeld told the outlet. “[Flav] and his family are grateful to bring an amicable close to this matter and appreciate everyone’s support as he continues his one-year journey of sobriety.”

TMZ reports that the incident happened on Oct. 5, with the Public Enemy rapper charged for domestic battery constituting domestic violence, a misdemeanor, in Henderson, Nevada. The criminal complaint claims Flav poked the alleged victim’s nose with his finger, took hold of her, hurled her onto the ground, and took her phone from her hand.

David Chesnoff, Flav’s lawyer, told the outlet that, “in alleged domestic violence cases, there are often 2 sides to the story and we will explain our side in the courtroom and not in the media.”

Flav’s relationship with his fellow Public Enemy members also made headlines in September, when he accused Chuck D of trying to prevent the group from reuniting because of contract negotiations. Chuck later responded and explained the situation from his perspective.

“I’m tired of the circus of airing news that ain’t news and am going to keep it factual here,” Chuck D said in the statement. “Flav sues the folks he works with, so in 2017 he decided it was my turn. He lost when the judge dismissed the suit with prejudice in 2020, which means it’s permanent. Over. He can’t file again. He lost. Even after all of this, even after all the years of Flav giving the situation minimum while always asking for the maximum, I still work with him. But it’s time to change.”

The feud started last year when Chuck kicked Flavor out of the group because Flav didn’t want to perform at a Bernie Sanders rally.

Flavor Flav has been one year sober from alcohol as of Tuesday, and it’s now been 15 months since he had his last cigarette. He celebrated the milestone on Twitter Monday night, writing, “1 year up, lotz more to go. Next year I pray my whole family will be walkin the same path I am.”
