Before he unleashes his third studio album, Stay Dangerous, YG has given fans another taste of the long-awaited project.
The Compton native dropped the ASAP Rocky-assisted cut “Handgun,” along with its official music video Thursday night—just hours after he premiered the track during an appearance on Shade 45. And, to no one’s surprise, the record slaps.
YG always cuts, YG do too much
Oh my God he always wearin' red, he's a super Blood
You niggas super sus, act like y'all be pistoled up
When them shots fire, all you niggas did was duck
The single follows Stay Dangerous’ previously released cuts “Suu Whoop” and “Big Bank” featuring 2 Chainz, Big Sean, and Nicki Minaj. YG recently stopped by the Hoodrich Radio studio to discuss the project and meaning behind its title.
You can listen to “Handgun” over on Apple Music/iTunes.
“That’s the lingo. That’s the space that my mind is at,” he said. “Being safe is like being on defense, it won’t get you nowhere in life. Staying Dangerous is be proactive not being reactive, staying on your toes, handling your business.”
The album is available now for pre-order and will drop Aug. 3.
