One of the men accused of murdering Chinx is reportedly speaking to prosecutors about a potential plea bargain.
According to the New York Post, suspect Jamar Hill made a brief court appearance Monday, when Queens prosecutor Brian Hughes announced: “We are still working toward disposition.”
Hill and his alleged accomplice Quincy Homere were arrested last December in connection with the 2015 drive-by shooting that resulted in Chinx’s death. New York authorities said Homere had a longstanding beef with the Coke Boys rapper that dated back to 2009, when the men got into an altercation while serving time at Riker’s Island.
“We're not exactly sure what the fight was about, but our perpetrator Quincy probably got the worst of it and he wanted to get back at Chinx,” Lt. Richard Rudolph, Commanding Officer of the Queens South Homicide Squad, told XXL magazine. “When he saw Chinx's career starting to blow, he took it real personal and figured that his [own] career was going south... It just festered inside of him.”
Hill and Homere are accused of stalking Chinx in NYC, before opening fire on the rapper’s car at around 4 a.m. May 17, 2015. Chinx was shot 15 times. He was 31 years old.
The two suspects have been charged with second-degree murder, attempted murder, assault, and criminal possession of a weapon. If convicted on all charges, the men face up to 25 years in prison.
Hill is expected to appear back in court Sept. 12.
