Meek Mill

The hip-hop community continues to have Meek Mill's back.

This past weekend, the Philadelphia rapper accused the Las Vegas Cosmopolitan hotel of racial discrimination. Meek shared footage of a tense interaction with the hotel/casino's security, who informed the artist he was not allowed inside the building—and if he attempted to enter, he would risk arrest.

Meek proceeded to question the reasoning behind the ban, but was plainly told, "We have the right to do that."

Meek has since announced his intentions to sue the Cosmopolitan over racial discrimination as well as defamation.

Representatives for the establishment claim its staff prohibited Meek from entering not because of his skin color, but because there were simply too many people inside the Marquee Dayclub—a Cosmopolitan venue where DJ Mustard was performing.

"[The] Marquee Dayclub had reached capacity per Las Vegas Fire Marshall code," reps for the hotel told TMZ. "Earlier that day, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police had been called onsite to manage a larger than usual venue crowd."

The Cosmopolitan also insists they have "zero tolerance for discrimination," which conflicts with Yo Gotti's recent comments about this ordeal.

"Unfortunately, I’ve experienced similar discrimination at the Cosmopolitan and other Vegas hotels," Gotti told Complex. "It’s a disgrace that these establishments continue to judge us by the color of our skin and our professions instead of recognizing our artistry and dedication to our communities. I stand with Meek Mill, and all my peers in the hip-hop community, that have been disrespected by places like the Cosmopolitan."

Other rappers have also expressed their support for Meek in his battle against the Vegas hotel. 50 Cent took to Twitter this week vowing to boycott the Cosmopolitan until the situation with Meek is resolved. T.I. also reposted Meek's clip of the incident with the caption: "@cosmopolitan_lv Please explain. @meekmill YKWTFGO #USorELSE."

Rae Sremmurd's Swae Lee also revealed he, too, has had issues with the Cosmopolitan and said he fully supports Meek's legal action.

"I feel him 100 percent [...] I was just there and they're just aggressive for no reason to the wrong people," he told TMZ, before sending a message to businesses that discriminate against the rap community. "I want you to remember we're all people, and that hip-hop is the new pop. Embrace it [...] all this racist shit is setting us back, as people, it's setting us back 100 years."
