Bay Area legend Too Short responded this week after resurfaced comments from a video chat with Saweetie that were deemed "colorist" earlier this month.

Too Short landed himself in hot water earlier this month for making comments people considered colorist.

During a video chat with Saweetie that took place sometime last year, Too Short said he’s mostly attracted to mixed race women and has never dated a woman “that wasn’t mixed,” citing his growing up in the Bay Area as a reason.

“Mixed heritage women have always been my favorite,” Short said. “Like I don’t think I’ve ever fallen in love with a woman that wasn’t mixed.”

Too Short continued, “And I feel that way about life, too. Like, biracial babies are—you could take the two ugliest motherfuckers from different races and they fuck and make a baby, and that baby just be beautiful. It happens all the time.”

In a video sent to TMZ this week, Too Short apologized for his comments, maintaining he’s proud of his Black heritage.

“I would like to apologize to anybody that’s offended by my words,” he said. “I am from the Bay Area, I come up in the Bay, and you know, the whole racial thing to me has never been a factor in my circles. … And in the Bay, there aren’t a lot of mixed cultures and, you know, mixed people. It was like that long before I got there. I’m not really into the whole hatred of, ‘I hate you because you’re light,’ or ‘you’re the best because you’re dark.’”

Too Short continued, “I love my blackness, I love my family—on my mother’s side and my father’s side. We have every complexion: light, curly, dark, everything. You can’t have blood in your body that makes you better than someone else. You can’t be born of better parents or better breeding—it’s no such thing. Real beauty is in every economic class, every race, and you can go find that ugly exactly everywhere too.”

After the conversation between the two rappers resurfaced last week, Saweetie was also forced to defend herself when some people found it offensive that she laughed off Too Short’s comments in the video.

Saweetie took to Twitter to point out that in the extended clip she’s heard reminding Too Short that Black women are not only beautiful, but also make beautiful babies.

“Since @idkthreat blocked me make sure y’all post the whole clip,” she wrote in a tweet. “Black women are beautiful period!”
