MixedByAli Announces New Record Label NoName Recordings

Grammy Award-winning audio engineer Derek “MixedByAli” Ali announced on Monday the launch of his new record label, NoName Recordings.

The news arrives less than a year after the longtime Kendrick Lamar collaborator purchased the original Death Row Records studio in Tarzana, California, which will now serve as the headquarters for Ali and business partner Dan Maynard’s new label.

“I’ve been blessed with a career that has given me the opportunity to be involved in some of the biggest records released over the past decade,” Ali said in a statement Monday. “With this new venture, we are now enabled to be even more hands-on with developing and curating the new sounds of tomorrow.”

Over the past decade, MixedByAli has worked on countless classic projects from Top Dawg Entertainment artists like Kendrick, SZA, and Schoolboy Q, as well as other A-list rappers like Mac Miller, Nipsey Hussle, and Roddy Ricch. He even won three Grammys for his work on Good Kid, M.A.A.D City, To Pimp A Butterfly, and “This Is America.”

Maynard added, “Our approach is to truly help artists grow and build businesses for themselves. Covering all aspects of the industry, from providing the support to curate their sound, to helping them build a brand that will live on forever. We want to create a safe home for them.”

In tandem with the launch, NoName has revealed its first artist, Malik Moses, a rising singer and songwriter out of Baltimore. Moses tapped Dreamville rapper Bas for his debut single, “Show Me Something,” which is available now on all major streaming services.
