Nearly three years after her son was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting, FBG Duck's mother LaSheena Weekly is asking Lil Durk to team up to help combat "senseless violence" in their city.

The late Chicago rapper's mom took to her Instagram Stories on Tuesday to praise Durk for helping "bring our city together and stop the violence," before asking that he get together with her and Mothers of Peace & Justice, a non-profit organization that prides itself on demanding justice for victims of violence in the city.

“@LilDurk as a mother that’s lost her son to this senseless war that’s divided Chicago, I’m proud to see that you are taking steps to bring our city together and stop the violence,” Weekly wrote. “You met with [new Mayor Brandon Johnson], now I’m asking that you meet with me and the @MothersOfPeace to take further steps to unite our city."

"More information on this coming soon,” she ended the message.

On Aug. 4, 2020, FBG Duck was fatally shot in a drive-by that took place as the rapper was standing outside a store while shopping for his son’s birthday. To date, six alleged members of South Side Chicago’s O-Block gang have been charged with his killing.

Back in March, Lil Durk sat down with Mayor Johnson to discuss efforts to help put an end to the city's violence epidemic.

“It ain’t album promo it’s saving kids lifes [sic] 🙌," the Almost Healed artist commented on a pic of the two, which was posted on Instagram by DJ Akademiks.

Durkio later spoke about his meeting with the politician in an interview with XXL.

“Sitting with the mayor. We doin’ big charity things. Neighborhood Heroes, the foundation I got," he explained, before shedding light on why he's titled two of his latest albums The Voice and The Voice of the Heroes.

"We just doing different things, ’cause if you say you The Voice, it’s like, OK, you The Voice of the Streets, so what happened? What you do? I did this, this, cool. OK, now what you do for the kids? ... So, now we just breaking it down. So, we doing this, we doing this, we doing this. Not only on Thanksgiving, not only on Christmas, just on a regular basis, helping people.”

At the end of 2020, Durk previewed some unreleased music featuring an FBG Duck diss. LaSheena Weekly was unimpressed, firing back at the MC on social media

“Y’all rich off mentioning Tooka, show your craft!” the late artist's mother said at the time. “Do something else besides dissing music! … Your ass sitting up here mentioning somebody who ain’t give two fucks about you.”
