A-Trak and Cam'ron's 'U Wasn't There'

It’s been nearly 10 years since Cam’ron and A-Trak initially announced their Federal Reserve EP in a 2014 Complex cover story. On Friday, the pair finally made up for the scrapped project by releasing their new collaborative album U Wasn’t There.

The nine-track project includes the previously released singles “All I Really Wanted” and “Ghetto Prophets” featuring Conway the Machine, as well as guest appearances from Styles P (“Think Boy”), Juelz Santana (“Dipshits,” a bonus track that was previously released), Jim Jones (“Think Boy”), Dame Dash “Dame Skit,” “What You Do,” “Dipshits”), and Mr. Vegas (“Dipset Acrylics”).

In addition to A-Trak, the production side of things features contributions from Just Blaze (“Dipshits”), Illmind (“What You Do”), DJ Khalil (“Ghetto Prophets,” “Dipset Acrylics,” “Think Boy”), Thelonious Martin (“This Is My City”), G Koop (“All I Really Wanted,” “Cheers”), Beautiful Lou (“All I Really Wanted”), DJ Thoro (“Cheers”), and Lakim (“Ghetto Prophets”).

To celebrate the release, A-Trak took to Instagram to share a lengthy message about the making of U Wasn’t There.

“I tried to make the album that I wanted to hear from Cam as a fan,” the producer wrote. “There were a lot of starts and stops over the years, this thing almost didn’t come out many times. Beats were remade, samples were replaced, some vocals got swapped out as recently as a week ago lol. But I also think this project was about capturing an emotion and that’s always going to be unpredictable. I’m grateful that we got it done. If this shit was straightforward and easy, it would exist already. At this point in my life I want to build monuments for the shit I care about.”
