Top Dawg Entertainment rapper Reason has some thoughts on how André 3000 would fare in a Verzuz against Fabolous.
In a recent episode of the Higher Learning with Van Lathan and Rachel Lindsay podcast, Reason said that Fabolous is actually a better rapper than André 3000. “In my opinion, yes, Fabolous is a better rapper,” he told the two hosts, while adding he would like to see them go up against each other in a Verzuz-style battle. “I would love something like that. … But I feel like if you lined up Fabolous and André 3000, I got my money on Fab. That’s how I feel.”
When pressed for more, he suggested that Fabolous has already shown he can “outrap” Lil Wayne, so he wouldn’t have much trouble with Three Stacks, either. “He outrapped Wayne. If you can outrap Wayne, you can outrap André 3000,” he added. “He’s outrapped Wayne on records. … I’m not saying it’s easy for Fab, but I think if Fab came in with the mindset of ‘I want the best verse,’ I think Fab can outrap André 3000.”
Reason reposted the clip on Twitter, and reiterated his desire to see a Verzuz between the two. “We need a Fab vs Andre Verzuz,” he wrote. “Verses only! I got Fab! Somebody hand me the aux!”
One fan agreed with Reason’s take on the matter, and said that André 3000 has “no solo accomplishments.” Reason replied, “TALK.”
André 3000 is considered by many to be one of the greatest rappers of all-time, but outside of some memorable features, he doesn’t have a considerable amount of material outside of his work as part of OutKast. Fabolous, meanwhile, has seven studio albums, a collaborative record with Jadakiss, and over ten mixtapes.
