Lil Tjay has offered fans an update on his condition for the first time since he was shot in New Jersey back in June.

“Hey what’s going on y’all, it’s your boy Tjay, man,” he said in video posted to Instagram. “I’m just checking in with y’all. I just wanna say, thanks for the love, thanks for the support. I been looking at the DMS, the comments and everything else, and I feel love. Seven shots, it was tough, you know? Most people don’t survive it, but I’m here. Here for a reason, and new music coming soon. We gonna come back stronger than ever. Love y’all.”

The 21-year-old rapper was shot and underwent emergency surgery in June. Shortly after the incident, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced that alleged shooter Mohamed Konate was taken into custody. One of Tjay’s friends, Antoine Boyd, also sustained injuries in the shooting. Konate is facing three counts of first-degree attempted murder, three counts of first-degree armed robbery, and multiple weapons-related charges.

Police said that Konate attempted to rob Tjay, Boyd, and Jeffrey Valdez in Edgewater. Valdez and Boyd were also arrested on a second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon charge. The last time fans received an update from Tjay was in late June, with sources close to him explaining that he had made “significant progress” towards recovery and was “awake and alert.” Many rappers, including Jim Jones, offered their support for Tjay as he recovered from the shooting.
