New York rapper Benny the Butcher unleashed his gritty The Plugs I Met project in June, collaborating with the likes of Pusha-T, Black Thought, and Alchemist, among others. With a distinctively NYC-inspired sound, Benny solidified himself as one of most promising rappers of 2019. Now with a Roc Nation management deal under his belt, he's giving that release another push with the suitably grimy "Took the Money to the Plug's House" video.

"The video depicts my transition from being incarcerated and separated everyday to what is important to me, to now being very visible and on a very large platform where fans rap along with my songs word for word—and I feel that energy during my shows," Benny told Complex of the Condido Verona-directed video. "This has truly been a journey and I now truly feel like I ‘Took the Money to the Plug's House.'"

The video depicts how he never got distracted from his true goals even when he was behind bars. Fresh off impressive moves, like the aforementioned Roc Nation deal, Benny is on the rise, and he's fully aware of it.

"I feel like a real hustler, a real stay down grinder," Benny told Complex earlier this month. "Not only the talent, it takes the patience and the resilience to make it here." Check out the "Took the Money to the Plug's House" video above.
