Bebe Rexha Gets Hit With Phone During Concert, Man Arrested and Charged (UPDATE)

A man has been charged with assault after he injured the singer at a recent concert in New York, requiring her to get stitches.

UPDATED 6/20, 10 p.m.: The man who threw his phone at Bebe Rexha apologized and explained his alleged intention.

According to TMZ, Nicolas Malvagna's lawyer Todd A. Spodek spoke on his behalf, saying, "As a fan, Mr. Malvagna's sole intention was to have Ms. Rexha take photos with his phone and return it as a keepsake. It was never his intention to injure Ms. Rehxa."

TMZ adds that Spodek "says Nicolas deeply regrets his actions Sunday night and hopes Bebe has a speedy recovery."

A man has been arrested after he threw his phone at singer-songwriter Bebe Rexha during a concert in New York on Sunday, June 17.

Per WABC, the 33-year-old artist was struck in the face by the phone, which resulted in her receiving three stitches at a nearby hospital. The New York Police Department has confirmed that 27-year-old concertgoer Nicolas Malvagna has been charged with assault in connection with the incident and is expected to be arraigned on Monday.

A video of the moment, which happened at renowned venue The Rooftop at Pier 17, has circulated online and shows the phone hitting Rexha in her face. She fell to the ground in pain and the show ended early as a result of her injuries.

On her Instagram page the following morning, Rexha shared two photos showing her injuries. In one photo she is seen giving a thumbs up and a smile, with two strips of surgical tape above her blackened eye. "I'm good," she wrote in the caption for the post, which also featured a photo showing a scar along her eyebrow.

She also posted a video on TikTok assuring everyone she's okay in light of the injuries. "I'm good, yeah I'm feeling all right," she said in reference to her David Guetta collaboration, "I'm Good (Blue)."

The incident comes just over a month after Rexha shared her latest album, Better Mistakes. The 13-song effort features appearances from Ty Dolla $ign, Lil Uzi Vert, Doja Cat, Rick Ross, Pink Sweat$, and more.
