This week marked two important annual holidays: Labor Day and #BeyDay. Beyoncé celebrated her 37th birthday somewhere in Italy with her husband JAY-Z trailing along to take photos. Meanwhile fans around the globe poured out their love to the Queen, celebrating everything from her first solo album Dangerously in Love, to her historic Coachella performance.
Two days following her birthday, Bey wants everyone to know she heard us, and she’s grateful. On her website, she posted a letter titled “Your Bitch at 36” to memorialize the past year of her life.
“At 36, I became a mother of three, I breastfed twins. I renewed vows with my husband of ten years,” she writes, referencing her babies Sir and Rumi Carter. “I came back home to the stage to do Coachella, after pregnancy. Then my husband and I released our album together, Everything Is Love. And we’ve been touring with our whole family around the world, and loving it.”
Thinking back on everything Bey accomplished in the past year, it’s hard to argue that this hasn't been a particularly important one for the icon and best performer currently living. “This year has been monumental for me. I thank God for everyone in my life,” she wrote. “Thank you for all the positivity and for the beautiful birthday wishes. I’m looking forward to continuing to learn from my past, living in the present, and surrendering to the future.”
She ends the letter with a direct shout out to her loyal fans: “I love you, Hive. B.”
