The MOBO Awards, a ceremony dedicated to highlighting the greatness of Black music, has just announced its 2021 show.

Heading to Coventry’s Building Society Arena on December 5, this year’s show will be the MOBOs’ first live taping since 2017. Last year, music lovers could tune into the ceremony online via their livestream, which saw a majority of the event held in a socially-distanced capacity due to the pandemic.

“In 2020, we proudly did the unthinkable by producing an awards show amid a global pandemic, which was no easy feat,” said MOBO founder and CEO, Kanya King. “This year, we are delighted to be returning to a live format in the incredible city of Coventry. Over the past 24 years, the MOBO Awards has set a precedent for delivering memorable moments and iconic performances, and this year’s ceremony will be no different. I can say for certain that the MOBO Awards on December 5 is going to be the most significant event in UK Black culture this year.”

Last year, in a YouTube-first show hosted by Maya Jama and Chunkz, Church Road rapper Nines bagged two MOBOs, winning Best Hip-Hop Act and Best Album for his third studio LP, Crabs In A Bucket. Other notable winners on the night included JAE5, Headie One, Burna Boy, Ego Ella May and Buju Banton for Best Producer, Best Male Act, Best International Act, Best Reggae Act and Best Jazz Act, respectively.
