Ski Mask the Slump God has suffered a lot of loss over the last two years—and he admitted to fans that he’s still reckoning with a couple artists' absence.

The Florida rapper took to Twitter to write, “Should Of Been Me Instead Of Jah Or Juice,” referencing his close friends XXXTentacion and Juice WRLD.

In 2018, X was shot and killed in Florida in broad daylight, and at the end of 2019, Juice WRLD passed away from an accidental overdose. Another friend, producer Khaed from the Members Only collective, also passed away in 2019.

“A big part of what gave me the confidence, which is sad to say, is X passing,” Ski Mask told Complex in 2018, following XXXTentacion's death. “He just told me that I had to step up a lot, even just in music in general, because I knew I could do it. But I just always sold myself short.”

Ski Mask teased new music this week, sharing a clip on his Instagram Stories. The last album we saw from him was his 2018 debut Stokeley.

Last October, Ski Mask and Juice released the video for “Nuketown,” which was featured on Stokeley.
