What originally started life as a slower, dancehall-influenced track has since evolved into something completely different.

With his music career currently booming, a packed out tour schedule and a string of hungrily devoured singles to his name, LA-based DJ and producer Pat Lok is still putting in the work, dropping off today's "Freefall" as the latest fruits.

"When we first wrote 'Freefall' it started on a different vibe," Lok explained to Complex via email. "Thandi and I were feeling a slower, almost dancehall type track." For whatever reason, the tempo was quickened and the track placed in a more 4x4 house music setting. Of course, we never got to hear the track in its original incarnation but with Australian singer Thandi Phoenix's truly unique vocals sitting front and centre of the track, we can't imagine it any other way.
