Everything happens fast when you’re NLE Choppa.

After being impressed by some of Roddy Ricch’s music, the 17-year-old rapper reached out about a potential collaboration on social media. By the next day, they had a potential hit record on their hands.

“I hit Roddy through Instagram,” Choppa tells Complex. “I didn’t know if he was even going to respond to me. I’d never DM’d him before. Then we got to talking. He told me, ‘I like to meet the person before I work with them.’ I was like, ‘Shit, me too.’” Choppa adds, “He came to the studio the same night and when he saw what type of n***a I was, we did the song the same night.”

What they came out of the studio with is an upbeat anthem that sounds like it’ll do immediate damage on the charts. And Choppa reveals that he picked up some tricks from Roddy in the studio. He’s careful not to give away any of his collaborators secrets, but he does point out, “He records in a way I’ve never seen before. He’s unique.”

Choppa says that his label recognized a hit when they heard it, too, and helped set things up so the pair record a music video soon after they made the song. “The music inspired this video,” Choppa explains. “I wanted the visual to match our energy on the track. It’s loud and fly AF!”
