British rapper Stefflon Don was dragged by critics over the weekend after she mocked Black Lives Matter in a promotional clip for her new single. In the now-deleted post, Don shared a staged video in which she's being handcuffed by a white police officer and placed in the back of his vehicle above the caption, “Bloodclaat mi a get locked up Black Lives Matter.”

Many critics promptly took to the comments section to point out that Don posted the video on Juneteenth, the day in 1865 when slaves in Texas were belatedly freed, thus marking the emancipation of all slaves in the U.S. "Child if this is a joke you picked the worst timing! I know you're from overseas but here in America it's JUNETEENTH," one user wrote. “Tell America yall need a new President,” she wrote in a since-deleted comment.

“Get your sensitive ass out of my comments plz about Black Lives ain’t no joke who da fuq said it was? And if you aint physically done nothing about it then definitely don’t say nothing because you don’t really care you think typing on insta will solve your problems lol," she responded to another. “Educate your self. By the way slavery aint no joke either but you still tune in to watch the movie that makes the same white man who enslaved you money and you applaud it and they get rewarded for it now go underneath the real enemies comments not mine.”

Despite her rebuttals, many on Twitter continued to criticize her staged video.

Can somebody please tell Stefflon Don that joking about being arrested & hollering black lives matter is not appropriate. Does she live under a rock? Did we not just witness Phoenix PD & Hawthorne PD act up?
