"A Whole New World," one of the standouts among the original Aladdin soundtrack, has received a Zayn update ahead of the release of Disney's new live-action take on the classic story.
Up top, catch the just-released official video for the Zayn and Zhavia Ward collab.
Aladdin, featuring a particularly inspired Will Smith, is out May 24.
Guy Ritchie, i.e. the guy behind Snatch and Revolver, directs the 2019 edition of the Disney hit, which notably arrives the same year as Disney's Lion King update from Jon Favreau. Mena Massoud, Naomi Scott, Marwan Kenzari, and Navid Negahban also star.
"This one came out of nowhere," Smith, who plays Genie, told Good Morning America earlier this week. "I was actually considering three or four other movies and this came on a Friday night and I had to make a decision on the Monday. That was a really tough weekend because Robin Williams, like, smashed this thing so hard and when you take a role like this, you want to find out whether there's some meat left on the bone."
Ultimately, Smith found that his approach for the character should be one that comes through the music. "What did it for me when I was messing with the music . . . I had 'em grab 'Impeach the President' by the Honey Drippers and he used the drums," he recently told Jimmy Fallon before breaking into "Friend Like Me" with The Roots.
