Prior to his sudden death last month, Philadelphia battle rapper Akhiym Mickens—a.k.a. Tech 9—was facing multiple sexual assault charges involving a minor.

In court documents obtained by Complex, Mickens is listed as having had a scheduled formal arraignment of March 25 and pre-trial conference on April 16, with arrest and complaint dates cited as Jan. 5 and 6, respectively.

The charges categorized under proceeding to court include unlawful contact with minor - sexual offenses, corruption of minors - defendant age 18 or above, criminal attempt - indecent assault without consent of other, harassment - subject other to physical contact, indecent exposure, criminal use of communication facility, photograph/film/depict on computer sex act - knowingly depicts on computer, photo, etc., and child pornography.

Charges of indecent assault - person less than 16 years of age and another indecent assault without consent of other are listed as having been dismissed.

Per the documents, a bail in the amount of $50,000 was posted Jan. 7.

The Philadelphia County District Attorney's Office did not immediately respond to Complex's request for additional comment. However, the birth date attributed to Mickens in the documents matches up with that of Tech 9, whose death last month was marked by words of tribute for the battle rap pioneer prior to social media talk on the charges gaining traction. Kendrick Lamar, Denzel Curry, and Lupe Fiasco were among the artists who paid their respects.

The attorney listed as representing Tech 9 at the time of the filing also did not immediately respond to Complex's request for comment.

According to a subsequent report from Philly Voiceciting obtained police reports, the allegations in question "involved the daughter of a woman [Tech 9] was dating."
