Young Thug has dubbed Casanova "the new HOV."

Thugger delivered the top-tier JAY-Z comparison via an Instagram comment Tuesday. In reply to a Casanova post of a shot by photographer @hankity dated Feb. 26, Thugger told the Roc Nation signee "u the new HOV my luv."

The two have been seen in the studio together in recent weeks, just as both artists are presumed to be readying prompt follow-ups to their most recent releases. Casanova and 30Roc's Free at Last EP dropped earlier this week, featuring the Tory Lanez-assisted single "2AM."

Thugger, meanwhile, released his On the Rvn EP back in September and followed that excellence with a multi-chaptered Grammys night earlier this month. Barter 7 is his presumed next project, though Thugger recently claimed he was being met with possible legal action from Lil Wayne's team regarding the tape.

At any rate, that project—a sequel to Thugger's underrated 2015 tape Barter 6—has actually been in the works for several years now. Given Thugger's prolific approach to the recording process, there's no telling what will end up on the final Barter 7 tracklist. Personally, I'm still hoping to hear something from those Travis Barker x YSL sessions circa December 2017.

Whatever ends up being next in Thugger's release plan will be worth the wait, especially when you consider he spent the bulk of 2018 dropping some of the best music he's ever made, including (but certainly not limited to) his Lil Uzi Vert collab "Up." Below, revisit the track's appropriately goth-inspired video from director Millicent Hailes:
